Papamoa Reserve Walkways
Through the centre of this popular holiday destination are the Papamoa Reserve Walkways Through Papamoa, the Papamoa Reserve walkways follow the storm water reserves. The pathways are easily accessible and are great for walking and cycling. Perfect for those morning or evening strolls. This is an enjoyable walk and very easygoing. These pathways provide a link from Pacific View Road to Wairakei Reserve. If you wish, you can also feed the ducks that swim up and down the waterway.
Papamoa Plaza and Fashion Island are about midway from either side of the Papamoa Reserve walkways. As is Papamoa Domain and the beach a bit further down the road. If your an avid runner, these walkways are an excellent source to run along without having to run along the main streets.
A popular holiday destination for years... Papamoa Beach Papamoa Beach has become a popular destination for beachgoers and holiday makers. Thousands of people make their way to this stunning beach that stretches for miles.
Located down the coast from Mount Maunganui, there is a very popular camping ground where also exists Papamoa Life Saving Club. Outside this club is the most popular swimming spot. Where they place flags on the beach to allow for safe swimming areas, only patrolling Papamoa Beach during the summer.
There are numerous beach access points marked at regular intervals along Papamoa Beach Rd. Parking is available along the side of the road, where you are then able to easily walk through one of the access points.
Papamoa Beach is an awesome place to swim, catch waves and ride them in on boogie boards. At times large waves can form, allowing for great surf. Often down from the club are people whom that kite and windsurf, an interesting watch as you relax down on the beach. Bring the kids and build sand castles on the beach, play in the sand or have a game of beach soccer. Plenty of room to spread out and have fun.
Fisherman often fish from this beach, whether they surf cast or use a kontiki, you'll almost always find someone out here along the beach who is fishing. Given the right tides.
Papamoa Beach is a much-loved holiday destination for generations of Kiwi families. On the corner of Papamoa Beach Rd and Domain Rd, you'll see a roundabout. The entrance is directly in front, but parking spots are limited. Across the road from the Papamoa Domain are a row of shops to get a drink or a bite to eat.

Shopping at Papamoa Plaza This indoor mall is continuously expanding as Papamoa rapidly grows. Only a short walk from the beach, this Papamoa Plaza has plenty of retailers to visit. Shopping here includes The Warehouse, Countdown, takeaways, cafe, pharmacy and much more. There is plenty of car parking available right outside.
Papamoa Plaza was formerly known as Palm Beach Shopping Plaza, which first opened back in 1997. Adjacent to the Plaza is Papamoa Library and Community Centre. This Plaza continues to be the hub for the local community, providing Tauranga with a great shopping experience.

Fishing Off Papamoa Beach
Awesome Fishing Off Papamoa Beach Fishing off Papamoa Beach has become very popular and is often visited by fisherman from all over the Bay. This beach is awesome for surfcasting and is becoming more and more popular. With a long coastline, there is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy time fishing off the beach. Kontiki's are also now very popular and are widely used.
The type of fish people tend to generally catch here consist of kahawai and snapper. Other species of fish people catch here but are not as common are terakihi, john dory and gurnard.
Fishing off Papamoa Beach not only makes for an enjoyable time but also often valuable. People do walk along this beach quite often depending where one settles to fish. So please be careful and let others know where fishing lines and equipment are.
Explore Papamoa Library If you're looking for things to do, Papamoa Library offers wonderful opportunities. Here you are able to start a journey into a favourite hobby, study a new language, or simply find a great read.
At all libraries in Tauranga, you are required to use a library card in order to issue and take books home. Once you have a library card, you are not limited to your local library. But are able to use it at Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa and Greerton libraries.
If at your local library you find a book that is currently at one of the other branches, you can simply hold it and it will be sent to your chosen branch for pickup. You are welcome to issue from one branch and return to another.
Community libraries offer a huge range of services including browsing and study facilities; Magazines, music and videos; local history collections with reference materials and newspapers for use in the libraries; to word processing facilities and even access to the Internet and other electronic resources.
Papamoa Hills Regional Park
The ever popular Papamoa Hills Regional Park Papamoa Hills offers a walk with unbelievable views once you have reached the top. With the walk beginning from the carpark, this track leads you through pine forests, native bush and across open farmland along the way.
It’ll take you about 45 minutes to complete this steep walk from the carpark to the trig station but the views are definitely worth the effort. Once at the top, you will be standing 234m above sea level. You will experience breathtaking views overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Papamoa and right along the coastline from Mount Maunganui to Whakatane.
There are several other tracks which allow you to explore the cultural heritage of the park and make the most of the expansive views, with most tracks leading you to each of the six pa sites within the Park boundary.
Good footwear is recommended as well as a reasonable level of fitness. Most tracks are well formed and easy to move along. Don't forget to use sunscreen and wear a hat, particularly through the summer time. The park is also an operational farm, so please leave any gates the way you found them.
Entry to the Papamoa Hills is at the end of Poplar Lane off SH2 between Papamoa and Te Puke. More information about the different walking trails can be found on a display board at the Poplar Lane carpark.
Papamoa Hills is a wonderful place and walk for people of all ages to explore. The Papamoa Hills Regional Park is open daily from 6:30 am until 7 pm in winter and until 9 pm in summer.
